She is a social anthropologist born in Iran, and educated in Iran and the United Kingdom at London University, Kings and University Colleges.

Since 1995, she has devoted all her time researching Iranian culture. Her many articles and books published in Canada and USA on different aspects of Iranian culture, such as different ethnic groups, rituals, festivals, codes of behavior etc., all have attracted large audiences.
Her first book Iran's Diverse Peoples published by ABC CLIO in 2005 was reviewed as "a must read" by Patrick Clawson from Middle East Quarterly in spring 2007.
Her book Ancient Iran for young readers also received very good reviews from School Library Journals in USA and Australia and was featured on PBS for Rick Steve's Iran Fundraiser Program. The book also won the Moonbeam Children’s Book Award in 2009.
